About OSS

At OSS, we build and invest in industrial tech startups that radically transform how factories and production systems operate.

In 5 years, we’ve launched 21 ventures, impacting 2,400+ factories and 400K+ users — with a core team of just 20 people.

Our values: Fail, learn, succeed | Trusting team excellence | We eat what we kill | Think and do it quick.

The Role

We’re looking for a Head of Venture Operations to scale our venture builder to 8 launches next year and 12 annually thereafter.

👉 You’ll be the operational backbone: leading a team of Venture Leads, unblocking struggling startups, and building the processes that let us grow fast without losing quality or founder satisfaction.

This is not a classic ops job. One week, you’ll rebuild a sales process, mediate a founder conflict, and redesign our stage-gate process — all while coaching your team to do the same.

Your North Star: maximize net asset value (NAV) across our portfolio.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive portfolio performance: reviews, stage-gates, direct interventions when ventures are stuck

  • Manage & grow a team of Venture Leads (2–3 at start, more as we scale)

  • Design the “venture factory”: processes, tools, and systems to run 12 ventures/year

  • Act as player-coach: hands-on when needed, strategic when scaling

What Your Onboarding Looks Like

Your first 6 months: you’ll act as a Product Manager on one of our cohorts, learning the craft hands-on alongside Léopold (Head of Product), while taking operational ownership of a venture batch.

What Success Looks Like

  • 3 months: you’ve unblocked 3+ critical venture challenges

  • 6 months: you’re the go-to person to “get things unstuck”

  • 12 months: OSS has doubled venture launches with high founder NPS

What we will teach you

the full OSS venture-building playbook — from customer discovery to product-market fit, from founder dynamics to stage-gate decision-making.

Who You Are

  • 8+ years experience

  • Backgrounds we welcome: you might come from strategy consulting, startup ops, or product/scale-up roles — what matters is your ability to learn fast and deliver impact.

  • Strong team leader (5+ people), player-coach mindset

  • Able to juggle multiple ventures at once

  • Thrive in ambiguity & speed, from board-level strategy to customer calls

  • Bonus: background as founder, operator, or “Chief of Staff plus” in a scale-up

Why Join Us?

  • Direct impact on the next generation of industrial tech startups

  • High autonomy: you’ll design how our venture factory scales

  • Work directly with our CEO and functional heads

NB – OSS Terminology

  • Venture Builder: A company creation model where we build startups from scratch with founders, providing funding, team, and methodology.

  • Venture Operator / Venture Lead: An internal OSS role that supports founders in the early stages (idea → PMF), combining hands-on execution and coaching.

  • NAV (Net Asset Value): The net value of our portfolio startups (assets – liabilities). It’s our key measure of value creation.

  • Stage-gate process: A system of milestones where each startup must pass “gates” (go/no-go decisions) to keep receiving support and funding.

  • Cohort: A batch of startups launched in parallel within the studio.

  • Venture throughput: The capacity to produce startups, i.e. how many ventures we can launch per year.

  • Founder NPS: A satisfaction score given by founders to measure the quality of OSS’s support.

  • “We eat what we kill”: At OSS, collective performance depends on real value created, not just effort or activity.

Our Process

  1. Intro OSS with Maroussia, Chief People Officer Interview (30 min)

  2. Role deep dive with Renan, CEO (30 min)

  3. Fit and Cross-functional collaboration with Léopold, Elise and Quentin (1 hour)

  4. Case Study (2 hours)

  5. Culture Fit Interview - with Maroussia (1 hour)

  6. Final Interview with Managing Partners – Alignment with OSS ambition & values (1 hour)

Final words to our candidates

  • WFH or in-office? Hybrid: flexibility, with presence in Paris expected

  • Work & Life Balance: We believe in impact, but we also believe in rest and balance

  • We welcome ALL candidates: Whatever your background, identity, or beliefs – what matters is your ability to build
