Companies Introduction
OSS Ventures builds and invests in tech companies that transform the production model towards a more sustainable and desirable future. We empower founders to innovate and disrupt traditional industries through technological solutions.
As a startup studio and venture capital firm, we partner with industrial experts to create and scale startups that bring digital transformation to the industrial world. We offer end-to-end support, from ideation to scaling, ensuring that our companies succeed by leveraging our network, expertise, and resources.
Our values
🤗🤖 Human judgement. Machine speed.
We trust human judgement and care about human connection. When it comes to execution, we use every machine we can, starting with AI.
🏈 Play world class.
We play at the highest level and train like athletes. Every team member is a world-class player, and the game changes every day.
🤝 Trustful relationships. Performing partnerships.
We work with people we trust and act in good faith. Feedback is a daily practice: we say the hard things when they're true, because we want our partners to win.
🔪 We eat what we kill.
We take risks and believe in a fair balance of risk and reward. Work is done when results can be measured, and we reward value creation generously.
📈 Compound the system.
The system is the star, not the individual. We automate whatever we can to achieve outsized impact with a small team and a healthy work-life balance.
🛖 Build something the world needs.
We are builders first. We want real impact on our portfolio companies and on the world, and we want people to use what we build.
Job Description
Mission
The Head of Marketing will lead the development and execution of marketing strategies that drive growth for OSS Ventures and its portfolio companies.
Your role will be pivotal in amplifying brand visibility, generating high-quality leads, and supporting founders in scaling their marketing efforts.
This is a player-coach role: you define the marketing strategy and you build and run it yourself, with AI as your default production line. You manage an intern, lots of AI Agent and external agencies; our RevOps provides occasional support, not delivery.
Responsibilities
Build and animate the OSS communities: industrials, founders, portfolio companies and LPs. Own who we talk to, how often, and why.
Design and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for OSS Ventures, aligning with core business objectives and brand strategy.
Run the content engine across channels: newsletters, white papers, webinars, blogs, social, thesis pieces.
Organise VC and founder events, industrial trade shows, and LP briefings, and make sure something happens afterwards.
Optimise and deploy the AI agent stack that turns a one-person team into a system.
Provide strategic marketing guidance and support to portfolio companies, including go-to-market plans, branding and content initiatives.
Collaborate with the acquisition team to optimise lead generation and nurture campaigns.
The communities you will animate
4 audiences. They are not 4 versions of the same newsletter. Each one gives OSS something different, and each one is reached in a different way.
Founders candidates. Operators and builders who want to start a company in industry, or who already run one. They give OSS dealflow and the candidates for our next ventures.
Industrials. COOs, CDOs, plant directors and supply chain heads at global manufacturers. They give OSS pipeline, for the portfolio and for our industrial transformation business, and the field credibility everything else rests on.
Portfolio companies. The founders and teams of the companies we have already built. They give OSS portfolio performance, which is how the fund returns, plus the stories and proof points you reuse with every other audience.
LPs and investors. Current and prospective LPs of our funds, including the Renaissance Fund. They give OSS capital and warm access to their networks.
The value compounds when these communities meet each other. An industrial you bring in becomes a design partner for a portfolio company, then a client, then a reference in an LP letter. A founder you meet at an event becomes the co-founder of the next venture. Building those bridges on purpose, not by accident, is the heart of the job.
Required Skills
Mandatory
7+ years in B2B marketing, community or ecosystem roles.
You have built a community or an ecosystem from close to nothing, and you can name the people in it.
Proven track record running events that produced relationships, not attendance numbers.
Credibility with senior audiences: executives, investors, founders. You are comfortable in a room where you are the youngest and least titled person.
Context switching. Several communities, 3 business lines and 22 portfolio companies, held at once without dropping any.
Comfort with uncertainty. No stable brief, no fixed perimeter, priorities that move with the deals.
Both halves of the funnel: acquisition and nurturing. You bring people in, and you keep the relationship alive between two touchpoints.
Hands-on with AI and automation. You build and run your own stack.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Nice to have
Manufacturing knowledge.
Early stage or studio environment.
Experience marketing to the US market.
An existing network in industry, VC or the French startup ecosystem.
Overall expected behaviors
Proactive. Anticipate and address challenges; seize opportunities. Nobody briefs you.
Data-driven. Base decisions on data analysis and insights.
Collaborative. Work seamlessly with internal teams and founders to create unified strategies.
Self-organised. Prioritisation and attention to detail, to manage multiple tasks and topics for different companies at the same time.
What Success Looks Like
Communities that are alive: people show up, come back, and bring others.
Consistent growth in lead generation and brand engagement.
Positive feedback from founders on marketing support and strategy execution.
Enhanced market positioning and visibility for OSS Ventures and its portfolio companies.
What's in it for You
A network you could not build anywhere else: industrial executives, founders, VCs and LPs, in one role.
Full ownership of the marketing and community strategy of the leading startup studio in industrial tech.
Marketing initiatives across 22 portfolio companies at different stages, instead of one product.
A dynamic team that values pragmatism, speed and results.
This job is not for you if
You measure marketing in outputs (posts shipped, events run, followers gained) rather than in pipeline, LP conversations and portfolio ARR you can trace back to your work. At OSS, work is done when results can be measured. Activity is not rewarded.
You see your job as ending at awareness. You own the full OSS funnel, from a piece of content to a qualified meeting with a COO or an LP.
You need someone else to build things. You'll set up and run your own stack with AI as the default production line, and ask our RevOps for occasional support, not delivery.
Industrial operations bore you. Our audience is COOs, CDOs and supply chain heads at global manufacturers. You will need to learn and understand OEE, scheduling or MES well enough to write without a partner rewriting every line.
You need a stable brief and a single stakeholder. You'll serve the studio, the Renaissance Fund and our industrial transformation business, and support portfolio companies when it moves the needle for OSS. Priorities shift as deals do.
You prefer polishing to shipping. We ship in days, read the data, and iterate. A perfect deck delivered late is a miss.
You can't tell a Senior Partner that his post is weak, or that an event won't generate pipeline. Politeness that replaces usefulness doesn't work here.
You're looking for a France-only scope. Our market is 40% US and 40% Europe, and you'll write natively in English.
You need certainty on scope and perimeter. Long term is one week.
